Traditional Portuguese Stirrup — Crown Top, Bell-Shaped Arch & Scalloped Circular Tread with Quatrefoil Cutout
The BI-038 is a distinctive traditional Portuguese stirrup in high-polish stainless steel, featuring an ornate crown-shaped top, a wide bell-shaped arch, and a scalloped circular tread with a central quatrefoil cutout. Where the BI-036 follows the tall rectangular frame of the classic estribo português, the BI-038 presents a different but equally authentic Iberian stirrup form — the wide, pear-shaped bell arch that tapers from a narrow crown top to a broad circular tread, a silhouette rooted in the working horsemanship traditions of the Iberian Peninsula. The multi-notched crown top bar is both a functional leather slot and a decorative statement, while the triangular gusset braces at the lower arms add structural integrity with an artisanal touch.
- Crown/castellated top bar — multi-notched decorative crown-shaped top with a rectangular leather slot; a distinctive and ornamental feature that sets the BI-038 apart from conventional stirrup designs
- Wide bell-shaped arch — pear-shaped frame that widens significantly from the crown top toward the tread; a characteristic Iberian stirrup profile that provides a generous, open foot entry
- Triangular gusset braces — small triangular reinforcement braces where the lower arms meet the tread ring; add structural strength and an artisanal, hand-crafted aesthetic
- Scalloped circular tread with quatrefoil cutout — wide open circular tread ring with intricate scalloped edge detailing and a central quatrefoil cutout; the ornate all-metal footbed characteristic of traditional Portuguese stirrup craftsmanship
- High-polish stainless steel — mirror-bright finish throughout; rust-resistant and durable; all-metal construction with no rubber tread insert, in the authentic Portuguese tradition
- Suitable for — Portuguese classical riding, working equitation, Lusitano and Andalusian disciplines, bullfighting on horseback, and collectors or riders seeking an authentic traditional Iberian stirrup with a distinctive bell-arch profile
A bold expression of Iberian equestrian heritage — the BI-038's wide bell-shaped arch, ornate crown top, and scalloped circular tread make it one of the most visually striking traditional Portuguese stirrups in the range, combining authentic craftsmanship with the enduring quality of polished stainless steel. Sold as a pair.
