BI-0027 Blue Anodised Eggbutt Snaffle with Ported Wave Mouthpiece

The BI-0027 is a distinctive eggbutt snaffle featuring a vibrant blue anodised ported wave mouthpiece and polished stainless steel eggbutt cheekpieces. The gently curved S-wave port in the centre of the mouthpiece provides tongue relief, reducing pressure on the tongue while maintaining even contact across the bars — making this an excellent choice for horses with a sensitive or fleshy tongue. The fixed eggbutt rings prevent pinching at the corners of the mouth and keep the bit stable and still.

Key Features

  • Ported wave mouthpiece — the gentle S-curve port lifts off the tongue, reducing tongue pressure and providing relief for horses with a low palate or sensitive tongue; the unjointed design distributes pressure evenly without any nutcracker action
  • Blue anodised coating — the warm blue finish encourages salivation and a more relaxed, accepting jaw; a popular choice for horses that go better in non-stainless mouthpieces
  • Eggbutt cheekpieces — fixed oval rings sit flush against the horse's cheeks, preventing pinching and keeping the bit stable and quiet in the mouth
  • Polished stainless steel rings — rust-resistant, high-polish finish; durable and easy to maintain
  • Bold blue colour — striking contrast between the blue mouthpiece and silver rings; ideal for colour-coordinating competition tack

How to Use

The ported wave mouthpiece works best for horses that carry tension in the tongue or resist a flat bar mouthpiece. The eggbutt cheek provides a stable, consistent contact — slightly firmer than a loose ring — making it a good choice for horses that lean on the bit or need a steadier feel in the hand.

Ideal For

Horses with a sensitive or fleshy tongue, a low palate, or those that go above the bit due to tongue discomfort. Suitable for dressage, flatwork, hacking, and showing where a soft, tongue-relieving mouthpiece and a bold colour are both priorities.

Size Guide: Measure your horse's mouth width from corner to corner and add 0.5 cm for the ideal fit.
