BI-0013 Premium 3-Ring Butterfly Bit with Twisted Rope Mouthpiece
The BI-0013 is a full stainless steel 3-ring Dutch Gag-style butterfly bit featuring a twisted rope (serrated bar) mouthpiece and a curb chain. The textured twist along the mouthpiece creates a more precise, sharper contact than a smooth bar — increasing the horse's sensitivity and responsiveness to rein aids. Combined with the adjustable 3-ring cheekpiece, this bit offers the rider a high degree of control for horses that need a stronger signal.
Key Features
- 3-ring Dutch Gag cheekpiece — three rings per side allow rein attachment at the snaffle, middle, or lower position for adjustable poll and bar pressure
- Twisted rope mouthpiece — the serrated texture increases pressure points on the bars and tongue, producing a sharper, more precise response to rein aids
- Full stainless steel construction — hygienic, rust-resistant, and built for long-term durability
- Curb chain included — adds chin groove action when the lower ring is used, enhancing collection and control
- 12 sizes available — 10.0 cm (3.9") to 15.5 cm (6.1") for a precise, comfortable fit
How to Use
Attach reins to the top ring for a milder action with reduced poll pressure. Use the middle ring for moderate engagement, or the lower ring with the curb chain for maximum control and collection. Due to the stronger mouthpiece action, this bit is best used by experienced riders with soft, educated hands.
Ideal For
Strong or forward-going horses that have become desensitised to a smooth mouthpiece and require a sharper signal to respond to rein aids. Suitable for experienced riders in jumping, cross-country, or advanced schooling where precise control is essential.
Note: The twisted mouthpiece is a stronger bit. Always introduce it gradually and ensure correct fit for your horse's comfort.
Size Guide: Measure your horse's mouth width from corner to corner and add 0.5 cm for the ideal fit.
